I feel that many kids in the film school treat it as school instead of a potential profession. Would your rather take up a softer major at get accepted to USC so you can get a degree, have access to the Trojan network and find other ways into the film industry? Or would you rather have that film degree? It might be time to pick what is more important. I had a buddy go that route and graduated from the Screenwriting program. You can always apply to a different school, get in, work on your grades and then apply to the Film School but you will likely spend 5 years at USC doing that. I applied to the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (English) knowing it would be easier to get in. I transferred to USC from a 4 year (after spending 2 years there) with an alright GPA.
Find all the various avenues into the school and what it takes to get in as a transfer. They are going to be the most qualified to answer such questions. If you live in LA, go talk to a counselor at USC.
