The natural gifts of the New World became the second gold for the great maritime powers that seized the colonies in a formidable armed confrontation. Sugarcane and tobacco have spawned numerous slave-laboring plantations here. Only upon arrival will they learn the truth: their fate is to work hard on plantations for the rest of their lives or wander in poverty until then, until the wicked planter steals the vagrant into slavery.
They left their home in Europe, intoxicated by the stories of seasoned travelers.
Everyone is united by a thirst for a better life and a passion for adventure. Every nation happens to meet here: adventurers, travelers, retired military men with families, merchants, slave traders. The busiest place in the city is the port, where visitors come ashore from ships and boats. Only sometimes the breath of the breeze and the surf of the Caribbean Sea sober up thoughts, rewarding the opportunity to breathe fresh air. Imagination will help us imagine how the hot tropical sun incinerates all living things around, making staying here an unbearable hell.
Today we mentally go straight to the seventeenth century, to one of the many islands of the New World.
